Ok, enough about food, photos, and all that other jazz. Apparently, Joe Mauer just agreed to a 10 year contract extension with the Minnesota Twins. I’m currently doing a pretty ridiculous dance in my cube.
I love that team.
Yes, I know it’s just sports, but I really don’t care right now.
Edit: Getting conflicting reports about the signing now, which bites, but hopefully the first report is true.

I didn’t catch any news tonight but heard about Mauer on KFAN today. I hope the rumored sum – approx. $20 mil./yr. – isn’t a case of the Twins mortgaging their future. Sure, he’s a damn good catcher and not too bad hitting HRs either but I hope that kind of payroll hit doesn’t bankrupt their future.
Sounds like it was a pretty preliminary report, nothing signed but they are close. I agree with the mortgaging of their future, but I guess I’m okay with them having a few down years at the tail end of his career for a chance to watch him at the top of his game for the next 6-7 years.
